Reach out to Troy Pet Portraits with an image of your pet and communicate the size portrait you are interested in. A good photo of your pet for the artist to work from and a non-refundable materials deposit of $50 is required.

A decent portrait can still be created from multiple photos, as long as details of the pet are included.  If the artist feels she cannot make a portrait you will be happy with, she will communicate that with you and will not accept your commission. In that case, any deposit will be refunded.

Once the commission is accepted, the portrait will take 6-8 weeks. Rushed portraits can occur on a limited basis at additional cost.

Each portait is completed on a stretched canvas using professional materials.  Professional paints and mediums are expensive, because they have a higher pigment content.  Each painting takes several hours as they are hand painted.  Most professional artists charge between $3-$4 per square inch, but Troy Pet Portraits charges a fraction of the price.

The portraits you see on Etsy are generally not hand painted.  They take your pet's photo, run it through a photoshop-type program, and print that computer generated image onto a canvas. Troy Pet Portraits are hand painted to create a photo-realistic piece of art without the use of a computer program.
